The world is marveling at what is happening in China economically but it is based in the spiritual world. I am reading the the account of a North Korean Christian who says, “I love China because I met Jesus there”. I wonder if he would have said the same thing of South Africa if he was a refugee here? I have just witnessed the wonderful testimony of Adriaan Vlok, the former minister of Safety and Security. It is not an exaggeration to say the man was born again. He does not go around waving his hands in the air and saying hallelujah or talking in strange languages but heaven has made its eternal mark of love on his heart. The word does say that you will know them by their love and it is evident. (1John 4:7) The world longs for change, individuals for themselves and those close to themselves. We try medication, counseling and even the surgeon's knife but there is a more proven way. Why do they not believe that God is Good and that He loves them?” I believe the largest part of the answer is that God's messengers, the present believers, have failed on the primary issue. We get angry that people do not believe and behave and we have the completely wrong game plan. IF the greatest gift is “Love” then why is it so absent in the body of Christ? (Date Added: 2013-02-24) Worship's FirstErik MomsenThe first purpose and resource of man is to worship the Lord. The non-believer might have an advantage on the believer at this point because believers immediately think of music and ceremony. The unbeliever probably thinks about kneeling before God and surrendering in fear. I am more jealous of my time than my 'things'. The value we ascribe to time and our struggle with it is seen in our language. "If only I had the time - I'll try and find the time - I'm short of time - I don't know where the time goes - I don't get the time to think - there's never enough time - is that the time already? - time flies - could you fit in the time - time waits for no man - you really must pop around some time." Because of this love, we should be more respectful of the church - it is His bride. It would be very rude to make derogatory comments about a bride before her groom. (Date Added: 2013-02-05) GoErik MomsenI must apologize for my part and this should also come from numerous other professional Christians. We have held back the goers. Taking that fewer that 10% of our population are born-again Christians and that there are many countries what have less than 1% followers of Jesus, each church should be sending dozens of people into the field. Jesus did say, that the fields are white for harvest and that the workers are few. (John 4:35, Luke 10:2) “Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest”. There are a few truths that are eternal anchors for life. One of these truths is that God is Good. Jesus replied, “There is only One who is good.” (Matthew 19:16-21). By knowing the One who is Good I start to trust and lean upon His goodness. My eyes are open to His goodness and I start being thankful for this goodness. In His goodness I start becoming good. Europe lost the belief in the fact of God's goodness after two world wars and Europe lost faith. (Date Added: 2013-01-22) The Cross & the CostErik MomsenI recently read a quote that stated "The believer who forgets that his whole Christian life is a battle against evil is badly mistaken". It is a battle that takes place in the market place, home and inner life. It is the ultimate battle because it is the battle for the soul. (Date Added: 2013-01-16) Only GoodErik MomsenIt is not easy to see the good in the world. You have to look real hard. The news is only bad news and even the Bible says, “woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has gone down to you!” (Revelation 12:12) The one truth that sticks in my mind and my experience is that “God is Good”. Let me immediately agree with the critics that people are not. We trust in them and they let us down. We put our hope in them and they hurt us. But God is Good. (Date Added: 2013-01-06) No Looking BackErik MomsenAs 2012 comes to an end we are tempted to either dwell in the past or to make elaborate plans for the future. Being stuck in the past or driven by a illusionary future is not of God. This said I believe the greatest danger for most is allowing the past to determine our future. Nearly all will have failures and hurts but this is not where God is. The God of the Bible is in the future. (Date Added: 2013-01-03) The Promised GiftErik MomsenAs I have become older I have lost my childlike affinity for gifts. I am still embarrassed by my reaction to a gift I received from my wife. It cost too much and in any event I would have used the money better on something else. I would have bought more wisely. The point is that the giver determines the gift. Have you not found that as you mature the act of finding the gift for someone special is more exciting than receiving something? (Date Added: 2012-12-18) A Faith that's R.E.A.L.I hate things that are not real. I’d rather not have a chair than have a leather-look one. It must be sad to wear fake gold. Those who know me would find it hard to picture me in a heavy gold chain. I just don’t have the chest for it. The word REAL has become very important in our age with mass production, copyright infringement and unoriginality. A group of young Britons from the Vineyard sang "many are asking who will show us something real, longing for hope beyond the pain of what they feel" ... People know their need for a genuine faith but they see too little of it around and so are fearful and distrusting of institutions of faith. (Date Added: 2012-12-11) The Manifestation of the SpiritErik MomsenThe church in many parts of the world is in distress because we have forgotten that the church was born and lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the breath of God in us. The New Testament Church was a supernatural body of people and we must follow in these ways. (Date Added: 2012-12-03) A Faith that WorksErik MomsenThe fact that you are sitting here this morning or reading these thoughts indicates that you have some small measure of faith, or at least want some. There exists a natural measure of faith in all. We have faith that the roof above our heads will not spontaneously fall in on us or our vehicles will not explode the moment we put the key into the ignition. Without this most basic of faiths, we are regarded as mentally ill. (Date Added: 2012-11-28) Convict, Counsel, ComfortErik MomsenThe human race is not doing well because we were not intended to walk alone. We were made to be in constant friendship and relationship with the Living God but that is no longer true for the majority. A New Covenant or second chance is however available through the blood and water. Blood and water spilled from the side of Jesus, the Messiah. Blood cleanses the sin and the water of the Spirit fills the lonely soul. (Date Added: 2012-11-19) Results 17 to 32 of 263 <<< Start << Previous 16 Next 16 >> End >>> |
